Apprentice Minesweeper: 12×12, 22 mines
A size the classic set lacks: between Beginner 9×9 and Intermediate 16×16. 22 mines on 144 cells, about 15%: a little denser than Beginner and with more room.
Here you meet the first real patterns. About half of these boards need two numbers compared at least once, most often 1-1 or 1-2: when one number alone says nothing, look at its neighbour. If you are stuck, the hint shows the step and highlights the numbers it comes from.
How to play Minesweeper
Mines are hidden under the cells of the board. The goal is to open every cell without a mine. Each number shows how many mines are in the eight cells around it, and from these numbers you can tell exactly where a mine is and where it is safe. In detail: rules and techniques with examples →
